Our Amicable

Divorce Programme...

A stress free way to divorce and separate that keeps you out of court and on good terms

Divorce and separation can be one of the most stressful times in your
life. You feel so many emotions; anger, sadness, fear, worry and
confusion all at the same time. It is no wonder that you feel
overwhelmed.

The complicated legal process in the UK adds more stress and anxiety
to an already difficult situation. For so many couples, divorce can cause hostility,
and spiralling legal fees as they struggle to agree on practical matters, finances or how the arrangements with children will work

That is why we created the Amicable Divorce Programme. This
unique process will help you work together throughout.

Amicable

Working together will mean that any disputes can be dealt with through discussion and guidance.

Fixed Fee

You don't need to be worried about increasing costs as we always work on fixed fees

Simple & Quick

Having one person who is in control of the process will make things easier and simpler

About Us

Our mission at Divorce Right is to help people divorce through co-operation and kindness.

I know from my experience as a family solicitor that divorce can leave families broken, financially and emotionally.

After my own marriage breakdown, I knew that there
had to be a better way to divorce.

That's when I set up my own company and the vision of couples divorcing with kindness became reality.

How does the Amicable Divorce Programme work?

The heart of this unique service is the couples that we work with. I always see them as the heroes and that I just give them the tools and guide them to the transformation that they are looking for.

Most of the clients that we work with are looking to divorce without having a fight. Whilst they recognise that things have gone wrong in the marriage, they are not looking to spend lots of time on the blame game.
Instead they focus on what they need to do to move forward positively while focussing on the children.
Most of all they recognise that divorce can and should be easier.

There are four steps to the process:

Step 1

Initially, I need to obtain basic information, give you guidance on how things will work and on the divorce process as a whole. I complete your divorce application and it is submitted early on.

Step 2

We start to look at your financial situation and you spend time gathering all the information that I need. We also ask for information around arrangements for any children

Step 3

This is where we start our joint discussions via zoom or face to face depending on your situation. We work intensively through our conversations to reach agreements about practical, financial matters and arrangements for children

Step 4

Once the final documents are ready we give you a full pack with instructions on what to do next.

What is included in the programme?

Divorce guidance and completion of the application

Support and help with financial disclosure

Joint discussions and help to reach agreements (2 x 1/2 days)

Financial Agreement prepared for you

Parenting plan prepared for you

Frequently Asked Questions....

How long does the programme last?

We have designed the programme so that we work within your timescales depending on what is happening in your life.  Once we have agreed dates for our meetings, we then set a framework so you know what you need to do.  For most clients, the work they do with us can be complete within 4-5 months.  However, the court process can take much longer than that!

How long does it take to get divorced?

The courts always have quite a backlog so it can take some time to complete the divorce and get decree absolute.

You should expect the formal legal process to take, as a minimum, 8-9 months depending on your circumstances.

When you work with us, you should have all the paperwork ready to send to the court well before it is needed.

Who is the programme suitable for?

The programme is designed to work with couples going through a divorce.  It is not suitable for every couple however, as it depends on whether both people are happy to engage in a collaborative process.  We also cannot work with couples where there may have been domestic violence or any other safeguarding issues.

Generally there is a lot of emotion involved which can stop you from having constructive discussions and that is why you need help to communicate but also to navigate the divorce process and everything it involves.

Are there any extra fees involved?

There may be extra fees that will need to be paid such as:

Court fees (£550 for divorce & £50 for the financial agreement) although it may be possible to get help with the fees if one or both of you have low income & capital

Any experts that you might need - whilst it is not necessary to instruct any other experts sometimes it is quite useful.  Experts might include financial adviser, mortgage broker, pension's actuary, emotional therapist.  Fees would need to be agreed with and payable directly to any expert you choose to work with
