About Me

Our mission at Divorce Right is to help people divorce through co-operation and kindness.

I know from my experience as a family solicitor that divorce can leave families broken, financially and emotionally.

After my own marriage breakdown, I knew that there
had to be a better way to divorce. That's when I set up my own company and the vision of couples divorcing with kindness became reality.

Frequently Asked Questions....

How long does the programme last?

We have designed the programme so that you can work at your own pace however on average it can take approximately 6-9 months for your divorce to be complete.

You will have immediate access to all the information videos so that you can prepare and submit your divorce petition and start preparing your financial information.

Once you have everything ready send it to me in readiness for our first joint meeting.

There are 3 joint sessions to give you guidance on your situation and help you mediate agreements.

Whilst I can't guarantee that you will reach an agreement, I will do whatever I can to help you with different options and proposals.

At the end of the process I prepare your parenting plan and instruct a third party to prepare your financial court documents.

How long does it take to get divorced?

The courts always have quite a backlog so it can take some time to process the legal aspects of the divorce and financial settlement.

You should expect the formal legal process to take, as a minimum, 6-8 months depending on your circumstances.

Who is the programme suitable for?

The programme is designed to work with couples that want to keep their divorce simple, easy and reduce the cost.

It is not suitable for every couple however, as it depends on whether both people are willing and able to work together.
We do not recommend this process if you have any concerns about whether working together is right for you.  If there has been domestic abuse in the past you may need to have a discussion with me prior to starting an amicable process.

Are there any extra fees involved?

There may be extra fees that will need to be paid such as:

• Court fees (£550 for divorce & £50 for the financial agreement) although it may be possible to get help with the fees if one or both of you have low income & capital

• Fees for any experts that you might need - whilst it is not necessary to instruct any other experts sometimes it is quite useful.  Experts might include financial adviser, mortgage broker, pension's actuary, emotional therapist.  Fees would need to be agreed with and payable directly to any expert you choose to work with
